A hilarious comic gem from the pen of George Bernard one of the greatest writers of the English stage. Raina, the young and spoiled daughter of an affluent Bulgarian family, is surprised in her bedroom by the presence of a handsome soldier seeking refuge. By hiding him in her room, Raina brings upon herself and her family a series of wildly comic ramifications. Acting Artistic Director Greg Leaming will direct the classic comedy that opens Long Wharf's 2001 ­ 2002 season.

Barbara Cook in MOSTLY SONDHEIM

Broadway legend Barbara Cook sings Mostly Sondheim, offering selections written by the influential composer Stephen Sondheim (celebrating his 70th birthday) combined with pieces from the Great American Songbook that "he wishes he had written" - sung with the flawless delivery that has earned Ms. Cook rare reviews and legions of fans. Her silvery soprano and purity of tone have delighted audiences around the world. The recipient of a Tony Award®, a Grammy, a Drama Desk Award, and most recently inducted into the Broadway Hall of Fame, Cook was considered "Broadway's favorite ingénue" during the heyday of the Broadway musical.
